The UBC Philippine Studies Series & ACAM Dialogues are happy to host a screening of “It Runs In The Family” and talk with director Joella Cabalu. This event will consist of a showing of the film as well as an opportunity to meet and talk with the director. Free vegetarian food will be available at the event.

It Runs In The Family won the 2016 ‘People’s Choice Award for Best Feature’ at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival and follows Jay Cabalu as he sets off on a journey from Vancouver, Canada to meet with queer cousins Monica in Oakland, California, and Jazz in Manila, Philippines. All raised with a similar Roman Catholic upbringing, the Filipino cousins share their coming out stories, which range from surprising to heartwarming.”
