Mary (she/her) is a second-year undergraduate Psychology major interested in health, culture, and cognitive psychology. As a first-generation Filipino student, Mary struggled to find her community at UBC in first-year, but through ACAM, she had the privilege to connect with inspiring scholars from around the globe, meeting really cool people, friends, and mentors.
What brings you to ACAM Dialogues?
Mary joined ACAM Dialogues to share her story of immigrating to Vancouver at 9 years old amongst a group of people that can relate, understand, and explore what it means to be an Asian Canadian. She is looking forward to the facilitated discussions supported by a diverse collection of academic readings, personal anecdotes, and food!
What do you like to do for fun?
In her free time, Mary loves exploring new hikes in BC and going to concerts. She is also passionate about community building, especially through sports like basketball.
