Yasuko (She/Her) is a 4th year student at UBC. Her major is Asian studies and her minor is Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice. She is interested in the Japanese women’s diaspora. When researching female im/migrants, there are overwhelmingly few records of women, and despite their existence, they are absent from historical records. Through Yasuko’s research, she wants to reclaim and reconstruct the history of women’s immigration and migration.
What brings you to ACAM Dialogues?
Yasuko herself is an adult immigrant, and she participated in the ACAM Dialogues to explore the possibilities of what can be expressed from her perspective, as an immigrant. Additionally, she participated with the hope of being inspired by the opinions of her cohort members and further advancing her research.
